Our Student Council has taken up an offer from our local Councillor, Nancy Lanskey, to host a special activity on Tuesday November 10 in National Recycling Week. The Student Council will visit the Cairns Regional Council Chambers for a tour and talk. Then they will travel and tour the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), the Transfer Station and Buyback Shop with the Council’s Water and Waste Education Officer, Marie Taylor. This activity complements the Student Council’s role in democratic decision-making as well as their action plans for waste management this year. Our school’s library is a collection centre for batteries, white paper, ink cartridges and mobile phones. |

As part of opportunities within our Gifted and Talented (GATE) program, seven students from Year 6 & 7 attended the two-day Writers Festival hosted by Trinity Bay State High School recently. This activity offered students a chance to attend workshops with invited guest authors and illustrators. |

Congratulations to student councillors Haylee and Jake for actioning our Student Council's ideas to celebrate this special day for teachers. They made some colourful banners and read a special poem on junior and senior parades. We wish all our wonderful teachers - 'Happy World Teachers Day' on Friday October 30. |
