"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." (Dr Suess)
As I officially retire today, I'd like to extend a huge thank you, to the staff, parents and students of Hambledon State School.  What a wonderful school community!  I've had many happy years at Hambledon teaching alongside of many wonderful, passionate teachers and other dedicated and talented staff. Thank you all for your support and care.
Of course, schools are all about the children and I have had the privilege of teaching and caring for hundreds over this past 43 years in many different schools - Goondi, Ingham, Mareeba, Biboohra, Mundoo, Edge Hill as well as Hambledon. Each one has been a great school!  Thank you all for the memories.
Special, special thanks to all of the people who 'liked', 'reacted' to and left messages on the Hambledon State School Facebook page announcing my retirement.  Your best wishes and lovely messages were truly appreciated. The power of Social Media!  It was amazing! So many names and faces from the past and present.  Thank you all so much.
Thanks to all my beautiful friends and colleagues, children and parents, who have made my last week here at 'Hambo' so special with all the events and surprises.  It has been an emotional roller-coaster.  The expressions of your love and care have been overwhelming.
Thanks to my darling husband, John, who has always been supportive of my work and the hours that it has taken from our evenings and weekends.  We are looking forward, now, to the adventures that await us in retirement.
Teaching has been more than just a job to me.  I'm so fortunate and blessed to be able to say that I've always loved coming to work. I know I will miss it, but I look back over the years with much gratitude.  I'll be taking all of the wonderful kids, friends, colleagues and acquaintances with me, as you'll live on in my memories!
Thank you all.
